Body Works- Obesity Prevention for Girls

5:15 PM-7:15 PM for eight weeks beginning Tuesday, July 1 until August 19 in Kingston, New York.

 

BodyWorks: an obesity prevention program for healthy girls and strong women developed by The Office on Women’s Health, U.S Department of Health and Human Services to help parents and caregivers of adolescent girls evaluate and improve family eating and exercise habits. Through facilitated workshops parents and caregivers will learn how to recognize current healthy practices and build upon them to create change for their families that includes the adoption of healthy eating habits and breaking down the barriers that keep people from engaging in physical activity while recognizing the impact that the environment and
media have on their choices.


Registrants receive a free toolkit that provides information, tools and strategies. BodyWorks is being offered at The Kingston Hospital, Education Center, 394 Hasbrouck Avenue, Kingston, New York.

Art For Recovery

Saturday August, 16, 2008 from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

The local exhibit opens at St. John’s Episcopal Church,
207 Albany Avenue, Kingston and remains on display for 2 weeks.

 

Proceeds go to artist sculptors who set their own price in the enclosed submission form.  Poets can submit up to 10 poems which we will publish in a booklet to sell for 50 cents / page or $5 for a 10 page booklet.

Thursday Nights Out, a weekly social gathering that takes place from 5:30 - 8:00pm at St. John's Episcopal Church located at 207 Albany Avenue in Kingston.

The website is sponsored and maintained by the Wellness and Recovery Steering Committee. This committee consists of representatives from the following Ulster County agencies: Ulster County Mental Health Department, Mental Health Association in Ulster County, PEOPLe Inc., Gateway Industries, and the Resource Center for Accessible Living, Inc.
