In order to be eligible for any of the services listed below, you must be in treatment at Ulster Mental Health Department.

Expressive Arts

Help trauma survivors express themselves non-verbally & acquire skills which may have failed to develop due to trauma histories.

9-12 yrs old and must be UCMHD client.  Must not have significant psychotic behavior. Limited to 8 participants.

Adolescent ED Eval Group

This group focuses on coping skills and decision making processes around substance abuse, interpersonal and familial issues

Must be in treatment at UMCHD. 10 - 12 participants.

Friendship Group

To enhance communication skills, improve self-esteem, develop conflict, resolution skills and assertiveness.  To learn how to make friends, keep them and fun doing it.

Coed 7 -10 yr   Need to be in treatment at UCMHD.  Exclusions:  No current symptoms of severe psychosis. Up to 10 participants.

Kids Together I and II

A therapeutic program for children & adolescents w/ADHD and for those experiencing other social, emotional or behavioral difficulties.  Opportunities to form friendships, build self esteem, learn to ID emotions, improve cooperation skills and develop social and problem solving skills. 

Kids & adolescents with a psychiatric dx and/or those experiencing social, emotional & behavioral difficulties. Up to 80 participants.

Thursdays 1st & 3rd – 6:30  AM – 8:30  AM  Target Start Dates are:   Sept.- May (15 groups)

Kids Together III - Discovering Together

Group members engage in experiential activities designed to enhance skills developed in Kids I and II.  DT provides for more “hands on”, concrete activities designed to support & enrich previously learned material in order to utilize skills learned.

5 – 18 yrs – must begin with our Thurs. program before being “promoted” to Tuesday night program. 80 - 90 participants.

2nd & 4th Tuesdays of each month, 6:30-8:30 pm.

Choices I

Coping skills group focused on improving decision-making and impulse control issues.

Ages 12-17 Co-ed

Choices II

Coping skills group with a mental health diagnosis; currently experiencing challenges in their lives which inhibit or cause impairment in their social, academic or home functioning.

Ages 10-15 Co-ed

Basics

Skill building group surrounding bullying issues, boundary setting and better problem solving choices.
