Parent Assistance:
Managing Defiant Behavior

Parent Assistance is a 6 session skill-
building series for parents of children
ages 3-10.

The goals of the series are:

To increase parental knowledge of the

causes of childhood misbehaviors.

To improve parental management skills

and competence in dealing with child
behavior problems, particularly
non-compliance.

To improve child compliance as a result

of effective commands and rules given
by the parent.

Family Education Program

Provides home and group-based parent education for Ulster County families.

Agency: Family Services, Inc.

Serves families with children ages (0 - 18) at risk of placement and/or families seeking to enrich family life.

Free for families who meet certain income guidelines.

Ulster County Healthy Start

Home visiting program for pregnant and parenting families in Ulster County.

Agency: Mid Hudson Family Health Institute

Serves pregnant women, women with children under the age of 3 months in Ulster County. Need to assess/enroll participants either prenataly or before the child turns 3 months old.  Once enrolled in program, can receive services until child turns 5 years old.

Case management services for pregnant and parenting teens up to age 21.  Services available for both boys and girls.
