The Parenting Journey

A free 12-week group that focuses on promoting attitudes that enhance good parenting: respect, helping each other and listening to children with empathy and interest. A nurturing meal, childcare and transportation (Kingston area only) will be provided for all families participating.

Adoptive Parent & Children Support Group

A monthly support group for parents who have adopted or who are in the process of adopting children from foster care and their adopted children. A form for discussing your challenges, concerns, joys and ideas with other adoptive parents will be provided. A simultaneous group will he held for adopted children in the children's library where they will have access to books, toys and computers. Pizza and drinks are provided at each group for parents and children.

Empowering Parents Through Support

A monthly support group for parents and caregivers who are looking for help in coping with a child who is having social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties. Morning and evening groups are offered.

Post-Partum Support Group

The new mother/new baby circle. A group of women and their babies will get together to share their experiences and to discuss the following issues: Emotionl adjustment to parenthood, integration of childbirth experience, family/marital changes, changes in your body, postpartum needs and feelings, parenting styles and much more

A monthly support group of parents of any US service personnel, including those lost in combat or other military duty.

The Nuturing Program

Relatives as Parents Support Group

A support group for anyone who is raising the child of a relative. This group will provide information for any caregiver that has any trouble registering a child in an Ulster County school, free school supplies will be distributed, and lunch will be available immediately afterwards. Come meet other families!

Strides Group- Caregiver Resource

Strides is a parent therapy group for caregivers who struggle with their relationships with their children. The group focuses on:

- increasing caregiver's understanding of their children's behaviors andfeelings
- managing and understanding their own feelings toward their children
- improving their ability to create structure and consistency in their home
-helping caregivers to make a connection between experiences in their own family of origin and the decisions they make now as parents

Children with diabetes face unique challenges. The need to “fit in” and be “normal” are strong motivators. Getting together with other children facing the same obstacles of insulin and blood glucose management can be helpful. this is an initial meeting to determine if there is a need and interest in creating a child centered support group.
