Fay J. Lindner Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders announces a new therapy group for high-functioning young adults with HFA/Aspergers Disorder/PDD-NOS ages 18-22.

LOCATED IN LONG ISLAND

Group sessions will focus on developing strategies for:

- anxiety and stress
- self-esteem and self-concept
- depression
- social skills and interpersonal relationships
- education and job choices
- developing independence

Family Matters- Family Support

A confidential support group that provides emotional support and skill development for families of individuals with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), advocacy and advocacy services. 6 week group.

Strategies:

- learn to manage stress
- learn mindfulness techniques
- learn about local, regional and state systems

- Share your experiences and solutions with other families in similar situations

Adult Peer Support Group

This group is for people on the autism spectrum 18 years and older. The group meets twice a month with the mission to provide peer support and make new friends. New members are always welcome!

Every other Saturday 2:00-3:30 p.m.

Parent Support Group

The parent support group is a chance for parents to support each other as peers and to receive professional support from Layne Habib, the Open Center Parent Support Coordinator. Parents will learn new strategies for supporting their children from teaching life skills at home to navigating the world of special education, and preparing for transition to adult life. Parents will also have the opportunity to address specific concerns and challenges that individual parents may be facing.

There is no fee, but we ask parents to consider a $10 donation to help the Open Center continue to offer the professional support of Layne Habib and our guest speakers.

Individual Parent Support

Receive individualized support from Layne Habib, the Open Center Parent Support Coordinator, who is well versed in the challenges that parents face, including teaching life skills at home, getting through evaluation, understanding the world of special education, and transition planning.
